Winston Churchill Day is observed on April 9 of every year. Winston Churchill Day celebrates Winston Churchill on becoming the honorary citizen of United States on April 9, 1963. Honorary citizenship is a status given by a country to a person from a foreign country to honor their accomplishments or contributions in their life, and a law will be drafted and passed based on the votes by U.S Senate. He was a remarkable Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II and was also known for his knowledge of politics and military. He was born in 1874 and never went to college, but educated himself with many books. He was a great writer, artist, orator and was awarded Nobel prize for literature written by him in 1953. He was elected to the British Parliament in 1900 and later became prime minister of the United Kingdom.

History of Winston Churchill Day
On April 9, 1963, the President John F. Kennedy officially announced Winston Churchill as an honorary citizen of the United States. And Winston was declared so, by the Act of the 88th Congress. However, he was not available in person to receive the honor. This day was started to be celebrated to remember and honor him and also to show gratitude for the courageous actions he had taken in the past times. Americans had always been found of this British leader, and he was also a firm friend of America and its people.
