National Sweetest Day

National Sweetest Day is an annual feast celebrated on October 20 of this year. Sweets and sweetness are the two different things. The celebration of both falls on the same date. Two different celebrations fall on this Day. The first observance is it’s a special Day for those women who wish to treat her men. Sweetest Day is similar to Valentine’s day. One another observance is that this Day marks the celebration for the sweets and to increase its sales. Celebrate the sweetest day of the year on National Sweetest Day.

“Chocolate is the first luxury. It has so many things wrapped up in it: Deliciousness in the moment, childhood memories, and that grin-inducing feeling of getting a reward for being good.” – Mariska Hargitay

History of National Sweetest Day

The origin and history of National Sweetest Day are quite arguable. The Day was celebrated on the third Saturday of every October. It was said that the first observance of this Day was held on October 10, 1921, in Cleveland. It was the day where a committee of 12 candy makers led by C.C. Hartzell, gathered together and delivered 20,000 boxes of candies and chocolates. They had given the candies to the less-privileged people in the city. The film stars Theda Bara, and Ann Pennington had assisted the committee.

One another statement mentioned that in 1922, Herbert Birch Kingston a candy-store owner in Cleveland distributed candies and chocolates to several of the hospitals and orphanages in the area. It is celebrated in a similar way to Valentine’s Day in most locations. People exchanges popular gifts, cards, flowers, chocolates, and candy. People greet each other with other gifts of love to express their affection and love. It is a day for the women to treat their men by sharing romantic deeds or expressions. The Sweetest Day created by the candy industry aims in increasing the sales of the sweets and cards.
