Information Overload Day

Information Overload Day is an annual observance celebrated on October 20th of each year. We rely heavily on mobile, tablet, computer and television. We often use any of them and sometimes simultaneously. It is a day for each one of us living in this information era to get out of the extra, overloaded information. Celebrating this Day will reduce the pressure and stress any individual face while overloaded with information. It is an awareness day that lets you use only the necessary contents. Information Overload Day prevents you from lowering your decision quality.

History of Information Overload Day

Information Overload Day was first celebrated in the year 2007. The Information Overload Research Group (IORG) created this awareness Day. They have created this day as to call attention to the never-ending fire hose of data that threatens each and organizations. The celebration of the Day raises awareness to look at what happens when employees and customers are overloaded with too much of information. The IORG in 2015 has challenged the corporate world by lowering the overload by sending twenty percent fewer messages per day.

When the amount of information surpasses the capacity of the human, then information overload will occur. The person will find it difficult to make a right decision at this stage. In other words, this leads to the reduction in decision-making ability. We are overwhelmed with texts messages, emails, and more information in everyday life. All these results in the loss of each’s ability to manage their thoughts and ideas.

You can just switch off the alert tones. Take control of both your mental and physical health on this day. Relax your mind and soul with other activities like indulging yourself with meditation for a day.
